Opening of the C2C Lab in Berlin

Inaugurated on 10 September 2019, the new C2C Lab is the world’s first comprehensive refurbishment according to Cradle to Cradle criteria. Drees & Sommer and RBS GROUP have supported the unprecedented project. We are the world’s only luminaire manufacturer to be Cradle to Cradle certified, embedding the concept of sustainability in our corporate culture.

»Special Mention« awards are given to works with designs that feature particularly successful partial aspects or solutions – these prizes honour the commitment of companies and designers.

This year, with our free-standing luminaire LAVIGO VTL C2C and our appearance at the Light and Building, under the motto "Born to create natural light", we receive the special award twice.

Biophilic Office

Partner of the Biophilic Office research project

Waldmann is core partner of the BRE Biophilic Office research and demonstration project in UK. Biophilic design acknowledges that we are genetically connected to nature and that a human centred approach can improve workspaces with numerous benefits to health, wellbeing and efficiency. The project will span two and a half years. After analyzing the current working conditions in the first year, the office from the 1980s will be refurbished. The building will be completely overhauled: beginning with simple steps as putting plants on desks, continuing with fitting new nature-inspired carpet tiles or green walls up to our biodynamic lighting solutions to mimic natural light. In the second year the impact of the new office environment on the workers will be analyzed.

Cosy free-standing luminaire with biodynamic light

The new VIVAA FREE VTL free-standing luminaire takes the advantages of natural daylight to interior rooms. Its centrepiece is the light management system VTL for biologically active lighting (Human Centric Lighting). Plug in main plug, and right away the luminaire will provide the right light at the right time - exactly as nature does. Over the course of the day, the light that does this will change automatically: From morning to midday, an activating neutral-white light provides a feeling of alertness. Over the course of the day, the light intensity increases. During the early evening hours, a warm light provides inner peace and harmony.

More than half of them in the area »Industry Excellence in Branding«. We are all the more delighted that Waldmann has been chosen by the independent panel of experts from branding technology and branding science to be the winner.

Machine light with digital interface

Our MACH LED PLUS machine light with luminaire interface opens up new possibilities for you. The digital luminaire input for powerless switching saves you the need for additional relays and switches. That saves space and costs. Also, since you only switch on your machine light when you actually need it, this also reduces power consumption. The PWM interface also provides other benefits. When using a flash, you can use the stroboscope effect to visually inspect high-speed processes on the machine while it is in operation. Also, with an appropriate adjustment to the frequencies, the light can also be used for signalling, e.g. of error messages. The dimming function enables you to create some customised light settings, and this further reduces energy costs. The analogue dimming process assures flicker-free light at every level.

Individual light lines with IDOO.line and DOTOO.line

Thanks to a flexible system consisting of luminaires at the start, middle and end, the suspended luminaires DOTOO.line and IDOO.line enable configuration of individual light lines. Unlike DOTOO.line and most luminaires of this kind, IDOO.line offers not only direct but also indirect light. An advantage of both luminaires is that they are easy to install and maintain. Individual luminaires are connected mechanically and electrically without using tools.

IDOO.fit: Unique in form and function

Although it is recessed or surface-mounted, IDOO.fit seems to be floating below the ceiling. This impression is created because the ceiling and the walls are brightened with indirect light using specially designed optics. A trick, which also supports the effect as biodynamic light because the light brightens the area extensively and from above. IDOO.fit is suitable for computer workstations and classic raster ceilings.

ZERA family extended: now also available as wall-mounted and bathroom luminaire

Besides our ZERA Bed, the ZERA now also illuminates hallways and sanitary areas. Thanks to the new variants ZERA wall-mounted luminiaire and ZERA Bath, beds, hallways, staircases and sanitary areas can be illuminated in an harmonised manner.The high efficiency of the ZERA familiy of luminaires provides new possibilities for the architectural design. On the one hand, a smaller number of luminaires are required for the optimum illumination of areas in compliance with standards. On the other hand, ZERA impresses with its energy efficiency and durability.

Suspended Luminaire IDOO.pendant

The IDOO.pendant suspended luminaire designed by Burkhard Schlee amazes with its simple, floating optics. Despite its mounting height of only 20 mm, it has been possible to integrate all operating units into the luminaire, making for very easy installation. Thanks to the state-of-the-art edge-light technology, the direct light component provides particularly uniform lighting. In addition to single luminaires, daisy-chain connected luminaires to build light lines and variants equipped with the VTL light management system for biodynamic light are available.

LAVIGO: the world's first office luminaire to achieve Cradle to Cradle® certification

Our LAVIGO is the world's first office luminaire to have been awarded the internationally valid Cradle to Cradle® certificate that stands for comprehensive sustainability. To satisfy the high requirements, all the materials used were identified. They were evaluated in terms of their toxicological and recycling credentials and, in some cases, improvements were made. In addition, this certification incorporated verification of energy balance, the volume and quality of water required and compliance with social criteria.
